Salt mixes for foot baths

1. Basic foot bath

You can easily prepare a basic bath for your feet using baking soda as the main ingredient. This increases the pH of the tap water to the desired 8.5.

The foot bath with bicarbonate softens the skin and favors the elimination of corns with a subsequent peeling.

Also, baking soda works great against odors and sweaty feet. A little sage in the foot bath also helps reduce perspiration and prevent unpleasant odors.

Ingredients (for a small screw-on jar):

  • 100 g of baking soda
  • Optionally 3 tablespoons dried sage
  • 1 screw-on bottle with a capacity of approximately 100-120 ml

Instead of sage, you can also use sage essential oil. Seven to eight drops of essential oil are enough for this amount of baking soda and are added directly to the jar.

Elaboration:

  1. Finely chop the dried sage, for example with a spice or coffee grinder or with a mortar and pestle.
  2. Layer the sage and baking soda in the glass (or add the sage essential oil)
  3. Close and label.

For a foot bath, put three teaspoons of the baking soda mixture in about six liters of warm water and leave your feet in it for about 20 to 30 minutes. Then dry and, if necessary, treat with a foot peel.

The amount of baking soda needed can vary depending on the lime content of the water. The harder the water, the more baking soda you will need.
