Confinement has meant an energetic cleansing and an approach to myself. I realize that my body responds with contraction to the invitations to return to the social rhythm of before.

It’s her way of communicating to me that she needs me to be slow and selective when it comes to incorporating social stimuli. If it also happens to you, I invite you to follow my guided meditation to consciously welcome your social life.

Our body is very wise. He knows what he needs at all times and communicates it through his feelings. Thus it guides us to set limits and priorities that respect those needs. Being aware of them is the basis for us to build the environment of well-being in which we feel balanced and the one that encourages our inner development towards the most real and powerful version of ourselves.

The social environment we choose can have a great effect on that balance, so it is important to take care of it.

What does socializing mean to you?

When I ask myself that question, I realize that beyond my closest affective circle with which I relate safely and freely, socializing for me can be closely linked to expectations. What I think is expected of me at all times to be accepted, what is appropriate, what can be perceived as rejection, what can create judgments about me …

All this conditions the way in which I relate and leaves my needs in the background and my inner truth cornered, which works as a toxic food for my inner well-being.

Maintaining attention on our body when interacting is the key to becoming aware of these types of dynamics and, therefore, the starting point to recognize and respect ourselves. In addition, it is a precious opportunity for inquiry and insight.

By training listening to the body, we will gradually understand its messages more clearly to adapt our reality to what really suits us when socializing or relating: the amount of energy or attention that we have available for each situation or person, the way in which that we would like to relate beyond how we are supposed or expected to do so.

This type of meditation will also help us to distinguish which people we feel that our body is grateful for nearby and which we notice that they deplete our energy or leave us down.

It is our responsibility to set our limits to ensure that we respect these current internal needs, which may change.

And it is just as important that we understand those limits not from the energy of guilt, judgment or rejection of other people, but from respect for our own needs, self-responsibility and the power to shape our reality. Our limits are a yes to ourselves.

How to meditate to embrace your social life consciously

  • Sit comfortably with your back straight and little by little come into contact with the space of silence within you.
  • Take distance from your social life, visualize the network of people that compose it and see how it is distributed.
  • Feel your body, become aware of how you feel in relation to your social life, the way you relate, the time, energy and attention you spend on it, and how it all relates to your priorities.
  • Let some people from your social life appear in your mind for a moment. Feel what is the sensory and energetic response in your body towards each person and towards the way you relate to them.
  • Visualize yourself as a plant, the type of your choice. It is your spring, you are sprouting and you are leafy. You have everything you need for that growth. Feel your roots nourished by the earth and water, feel your leaves swayed by the wind, the sunlight on them.

Feel the feeling of fullness in it.

  • Displays ideal for these conditions occur, perhaps it is a forest, a park .. surroundings . Visualize the rest of the plants or trees around you, the quantity, the closeness of them in relation to you. Observe your sensations by visualizing yourself as a plant in this ideal environment.
  • Little by little return to your human physical body, and visualize how that environment and the rest of the plants transform into people. It is still the ideal environment, now for your human version. Take a curious look at the people who are present, where they are, and how this supports your sense of wholeness.
  • Feel the effect on your body of finding yourself in these ideal social conditions for you right now, the ones that nurture you. Breathe in those sensations.
  • From them ask yourself: What can I do from today to get a little closer to this ideal and nutritious social life for me? How do I need to distribute my time, my energy and my attention for it? Feel the response in your body and let an action arise from it to take starting today.
  • When you feel it, open your eyes.
